September '08

Well, Carson's getting used to preschool and I've got him pretty busy so he's always saying what are we doing tommorrow? He started a cute little "Hop to it" class this week with his friend Harvey on Tues and has music class (keyboard) on Wed. Then on Sat he'll be starting soccer which he is thrilled about and is constantly asking how many minutes until we go there. I figured I'd do things now before the snow flies. Chris and I went to Grand Forks on Sun for the day which was a nice chance for the two of us to spend some time together and a good chance to buy myself some things! We've also had parties and dinners with friends and this weekend Chris has the Bomber game Fri and I have the Sheryl Crow concert Sat. So it's nice that we've been actually going out and doing some adult things too. Caleb is learning like crazy and gives us a lot of laughs. You talk about food and he slurps his tongue and says "Mmmmm good." Or "goodie goodie" which sounds so funny. He also says "nice" alot about things he sees and is very affectionate with us. "Hug hug" and I love it when he grabs my face to pull me close and kiss me. I'm always amazed at his pronunciation because he perfectly starts and ends every word. He gives Carson a run for his money and really hurts him when Carson tries to take something away. Yikes, what's to come?? I'm a bit nervous about the fighting but when you see them play and hug and be generally lost without the other it's so special. Well, I guess that catches things up around here. I'll try to update this as often as a mother can although I have to warn you it may turn into a bit of a mother's rant at times! Or a place to brag about my boys! I'd rather post a few pics and thoughts here rather than facebook although Chris and I are there too. Oh, the crazy computer...Here's some recent pics of the boys. Carson 4 Caleb 19 months

Remembering Summer

It's only been a few weeks but already I'm fondly remembering summer. I keep thinking how different next summer will be as the boys change so much each year. We were amazed last year when we survived driving to Canmore for my cousins wedding. We managed to do alot with the kids and I thought things would be more limited this year, especially considering what a monkey Caleb is, but we pushed ourselves and had tons of fun. Getting the boat helped give us that push we needed to get out to the lake and having my mom's help with that extra set of eyes helped so much. Two little boys on a boat is lots of work! We also had a great time when we stayed at a lodge in the Whiteshell for a few days. What a fantastic place-Pinewood Lodge. Then there's The Ex, Tinkertown and of course the Zoo. It's funny the different places you start going when you have kids and how much fun you have watching their excitement. Well, as the leaves continue to fall the only thing I'm really thinking about is, "When are we going to Mexico!"

So we're trying to settle into September and the start of preschool. Carson is not too thrilled about it and keeps saying he doesn't want to go although when we pick him up he's bubbling with excitement. Yesterday he said, "Mommy I just want to stay home with you." It's only twice a week so I'm not too worried. Caleb is enjoying the freedom he has to play with whatever toy he wants but is still a little lost without "Connie" (What he calls Carson) The boys finally have the cold that Chris and I struggled for 2 weeks with so that limits what we can do this week which is too bad because the weather is so nice. Well, we went to the zoo last week so what else is there in Winnipeg? We'll just stick to our play structure outside in the backyard and enjoy whatever sunshine we have left!
Looking at my cousin's blogs the other day brought a tear to my eye as I thought, "I miss my family..." How great is it that we can catch up with the special people in our lives and share our families and our day to day with them. So, I'm going to attempt to jump into the game and show off my kids too!
